The Students of Morven Kitchen Garden
In 2011, students were the catalyst that started the Morven Kitchen Garden, and students continue to lead the garden forward. Today, the "Students of Morven Kitchen Garden" student club is MKG's on-Grounds branch. This CIO (Contracted Independent Organization) teaches the UVA community about sustainable agriculture through educational and social gatherings, themed events, and service workshops. Its members rely on the Student Activities Fund and other grant opportunities to subsidize club operations.
Student Leadership
MKG’s Student Leadership guides the direction and goals of the garden. This dedicated group of students advises, promotes, and connects the garden to Grounds.
The Students of MKG support the garden in many vital ways, including:
- Leading volunteer workdays
- Creating the weekly MKG email newsletter
- Updating MKG Social Media platforms
- Promoting the Garden on Grounds at Activity Fairs, Sustainability Events, and other student groups
- Planning, hosting, and helping in Garden events and programs
How do I get involved?
The Students of MKG meet weekly on Grounds each semester and is open to any interested students. Volunteer, lead, and innovate!
