UVA’s Sustainability Lab
Morven Programs has a new mission to activate the property as UVA’s Sustainability Lab. Existing programs are highlighted below, but stay tuned as we develop the new mission and strategic vision for the lab. Today, Morven facilitates teaching, research, outreach, and collaboration between local and global leaders and the academic community. Morven Farm is a place marked by multi-disciplinary research and teaching through an immersive experience.
Morven Summer Institute
At the Morven Summer Institute, undergraduate and graduate students with interests in sustainability, design, food systems, and ecology will have the opportunity to escape traditional confines of the classroom while working on projects with real-world applications.
Morven Kitchen Garden
The Morven Kitchen Garden (MKG) provides a place and opportunity for UVA students to directly participate in sustainable agriculture from seed, to market, to plate. At MKG’s one-acre garden, UVA students sustainably grow and sell vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
First Lady’s Food Lab
The Food Lab serves as a platform for food studies and collaborative initiatives between University faculty, staff and students as well as community-based organizations. Programs focus on issues of agricultural production and sustainability, food access, and public health.
Global Programs
Morven Programs' global programming stretches back to our founding, and has become an integral part of what we do at Morven.
