Volunteers in the Garden (Not Just the Human Kind)

Recently we've had volunteers join our garden.  Emma came and joined us yesterday morning, and we had a great time!  She jumped right in and was a huge help as we pulled up the old kale and snuggled up the Swiss Chard with compost and hay.Emma is not the only volunteer we've had in the garden too.  A couple of rogue plants have sprouted all across the garden.  Where the chickens used to be by the shed, we now have a small grove of tomato plants (maybe because we fed the chickens so many tomatoes :) ).  We also found a rogue potato plant in our old potato row.  Mind, we pulled up our potatoes in mid-June, so I'm not quite sure why this friend decided to join us now, but he's more than welcome!  His leaves look really healthy, and there are no bugs in sight on him!  Where we pulled up our old bush beans, we now have some bean sprouts peeking out too from the hay and soil.  They are also welcome to join the party! Finally the sun is here, making the dew glimmer and bringing out the vibrant greens in our garden!  Tonight and tomorrow night the low temperature is going to be in the lower 40's too- I'm so excited!  That does mean that we'd better get started on our season extension structures soon!  We've planned out what we're going to do, so we are ready for action!
