Feelin' good about FALL

Chilly misty mornings, forest trees tinged with orange, and bright green broccoli seedlings are all beautiful signs that scream and shout one thing in the garden... FALL has arrived! We have been working hard as the weather gets cooler and wetter to get the garden into gear for autumn bounty. That means planting lettuce, spinach, turnips, rutabagas, beets, and carrots - not to mention our big and beautiful broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale seedlings that we started back in August.Did I mention that the bursting lettuces are brighter and more vivid than any green you've ever seen in any Crayola box?Or how 'bout those pea shoots that seem to grown another 2 inches every day? I'm hungry just looking at them..One of the most exciting signs of fall has us nearly jumping for joy every time we peak over at the pumpkin patch...Needless to say, we are pretty darn excited that fall has finally arrived. We've got a great autumn bounty in store, and we are looking forward to a few UVa groups who are headed to Morven this week to visit the garden. Stay warm out there!
